Why ThermoBind?
To repair spine of books, this is exactly like the more expensive Cover One machine
After looking at the Cover One thermal binding machine at another library in my district, I was struck by how useful and money saving the device could be. However, I didn't have the approximate $1200 to spend on it. After polling other librarians on Facebook, I decided I would give this a try! It is well worth the approximately $300 I spent on it and is well on it's way to paying for itself. It looks just like the "other" and works the exact same way. It is well worth the investment.
So far so good. The heating element seems to be consistent and reliable. I'll update the review down the road. But as of now, having only bound 10 or so books, I'd buy another one of this model.
We’re very pleased with the unit which is being used to bind limited publication histories. It’s extremely easy to operate thanks to the straightforward instructions. Our first printing and binding job looks very professional and well put-together. It’s also a major savings because it allows us to print only the number of copies needed at a given time, which means any additions, corrections or updates can be made whenever we want without worrying about an inventory of out-of-date editions. In addition, Thermobind, Inc.’s customer service is exceptional. Prior to fulfilling our initial order for the binding machine as well as a variety of covers and glue sticks, Mr. Bloomberg called to verify that we were not ordering unnecessary supplies, which was a first for us. He also offered to personally assist us in learning how to use the equipment. In our experience, there aren’t many companies specializing in various office supplies and equipment which offer that level of online customer support, especially to first-time buyers. The employee who is actually using the machine to make some great-looking publications, endorsed the Thermobind products by stating, “I give it 7 out of 5 stars.” We’ll definitely be doing more business with Thermobind, Inc.
I use this to make my own custom drawing sketch books. Really nice binding machine for the cost.
I bound my first book without any problems. All pages adhered to the glue. I used the Coverbind Ambassador hard covered books.
